Treatment of coal fly ash to zeolite adsorptive material for soil improvement
Coal fly ash was treated with different NaOH concentrations and in 24 hours by heating at 100oC. Catin exchange capacity (CEC) increased about 11 times after treatment. X-ray diffraction and IR analyses showed that sodium aluminium silicate hydrate, the mainly possible zeolite Na-P1, was formed. Zeolite formed has caused the increase of CEC. Alkali treated coal fly ash can be used as zeolite adsorptive materials for soil ameliorating, especially for problem soils such as sandy soil, degraded grey soils…
