SUMMARY
The project has researched and developed some agricultural land use models with the objective of simultaneously addressing the requirements of improving economic, social and environmental performance, in accordance with farming practices and physical conditions. Four efficient, sustainable land use models corresponding to the upstream, middle and downstream areas are: intensive irrigated paddy rice in the downstream area; Sloping land use models rainfed upland rice – subsidiary crop with the use of upland rice – soybean – hybrid maize in the middlestream; Intensive cultivation of taro model; medicinal plant models under forest canopy in upstream area.
