Identification of cover crops for mango on slopping land at Yen Chau district – Son La province
Soil covering capacity of the crops can be ranked in a descending order as follow: mucuna, peanut, soybean and mung bean. The crops could cover the soil 45-55% and 65-100% 2 and 3 months after planting, respectively. 3 months after planting of these legumes a havest of 547-1057 kg grain /ha/crop and 6125-1102 kg organic matter equivalent to 31.4-63.3 kg N, 8.5-16.5 P2O5, 35.9-69.8kg K2O can be obtained. Fertilizer application exhibits a positive effect on interplanting crops, increasing organic materials, commercial products and income for farmers.
