Coastal sandy soil in Thua Thien Hue province
Coastal sandy soil in Thua Thien Hue is 48,408 ha. This soil was classified into two categories. One is favourable to agriculture, the other is not stable ecologically. Sandy soils is poor, less nutrients in total and available forms. Lack of manure, much application of nitrogen fertilizer, but less the others, especially phosphorous fertilizer has made the degradation of the soil more serious. The crop yield is less and less, soil productivity is lower and lower. Research is necessary to identify appropriate cropping systems and advanced technologies for fertilizer application, capable to improve soil productivity, increase crop yield and efficiency of the crop production.
