Land evaluation for rice cultivation in Duc Pho district Quang Ngai province
Calculated radiation-thermal production potential (RPP) was 4.8-5.0 tons/ha and land production potential (LPP) was 0.2-2.8 tons/ha for 3 rice seasons, following the FAO procedure. Water limited production potentials were found equal to the RPP, because irrigation is fully under control. Soils were evaluated suitable to unsuitable for irrigation. The amin soil limiting factors are texture and availability of the base cations. To increase rice yield, soils must be reclaimed through application of manure and chemical fertilizers.
