Initial assessment of applied ability of ASSOD system on classification of land degradation on Mekong river delta

To indicate the change in degree of soil degradation, a qualitative estimate of the trend of soil degradation is given in ASSOD. It is important to know whether a severely degraded area is stable at present or whether an area that presently has only a slight degree of degradation may show trend towards rapid further deterioration. ASSOD map will also indicate areas where the situation is improving. This method is 1^st applied land degradation identification and classification for the Mekong delta. Some difficulties in inadequate of data, its suitability and its accuracy can cause the result not showing enough information, since further research for updating, validating of data must be done.
