LAND SUITABILITY EVALUATION FOR AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT IN QUANG NINH PROVINCE

SUMMARY
Quang Ninh is a province with rich potential for agricultural development with diverse terrain from mountains – midlands – plains – coastal and islands. However, the current status of agricultural growth is not commensurate and lacks linkage. Applying the agricultural land assessment process TCVN 8409:2012, this study has determined the suitability of 07 typical land use types. The assessment results are shown on a land suitability map at a scale of 1:100,000 with suitable areas respectively: paddy rice 45,670 ha; vegetables 35,591.1 ha; annual industrial crops 55,836.9 ha; fruit trees 33,819.2 ha; medicinal plants 83,925.5 ha; production forests 263,754.1 ha, brackishwater 33,692.8 ha. Based on the comprehensive assessment, initially propose the rational use of land resources with 08 priority development areas associated with concentrated agricultural cultivation, environmental protection and biodiversity.
