Application of simulation model ceres-rice in N management research for rice grown on alluvial soil in Mekong delta
Better prediction of optimal N rates on a field-specific and dynamic basis is urgently needed. This predictive capability would help avoid excessive N input or deficiency. CERES-Rice is a family of DSSAT crop models. CERES-Rice model performance has been tested against observed data of Lailay rice soil. There is good agreement between simulated and observed yields. Results of the simulation for release of mineral N by paddy soils corresponded with the n requirements of the rice crop at various stage. The efficiency of N research and management can be much enhanced through the use of this model.
