Agricultural ecological zoning in Thai Nguyen province for developing sustainable safe tea by 2020

SUMMARY

Thai Nguyen is a province in the mountainous areas in the North of Vietnam. Constraints to the agricultural economy development of the province is unusual weather climate, drought, flooding steepy hilly and mountainous areas.  So it often happens natural hazards such as landslide, mud flow, rock fall, soil erosion. These affected greatly to agricultural production and people’s life. Tea is the perennial industrial crop which has a comparative advantage, is one of the important agricultural exports of Thai Nguyen. Until now there is very little research on tea agro-ecological zoning to maximize the comparative advantage of the province’s natural conditions to develop safe tea  in the direction of economic ecology. Therefore, this study has identified a scientific adaptability of agricultural crops in general and tea in particular, determine the rules of ecological characteristics of each region and sub-region ecosystem. The authors give recommendation, propose agricultural production areas and safe tea for each region, ecological sub-region for sustainable development.
