Study on the real status fluctuations in land use in Nam Truc district, Nam Dinh province in the period from 2000 to 2012

SUMMARY
The paper analyzes the real status, fluctuating trends and causes of fluctuations in land use in Nam Truc District in the period from 2000 to 2012 in order to create the basis for developing long-term land use strategies. In this period, agricultural land and unused land area tend to decrease; non-agricultural land area tends to increase. That is consistent with the trend of social-economic development in the direction of industrialization and modernization. In a total of 16170,90 hectares of natural land, up to 99.55% of the area has already been used (including 11585.43 hectares of agricultural land, and 4513,47 hectares of the non-agricultural land). There are only 72 hectares of unused land left. Compared to the standards of Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the average area per capita for housing in rural area and for irrigation is within the standard, others is only from 0.5 to 0.8 times.
