Assessment and recommendation on land suitability classification services for the orientation of land use planning/for agro-forestry-fishery development in Ca Mau province period 2001-2010
69 land mapping units were identified from combination of climatic, soil and water characteristics and 9 promising land use types were selected for land evaluation study. Results: land use types with double rice (LUT1 and lUT2) were highly suitable in places where alluvial soils and strong dike to protect against salt water intrusion. Rice-shrimp system was highly suitable in larger scale with saline acid sulphate soils and saline alluvial soils flooded by brackish water in dry season. Forest-shrimp system was also classified and it seem to be suitable for the tidal plat area along the coast. 6 land suitability zones were recognized to propose the promising land use types. This will provide the basis information about the potential land for land use planning in Ca Mau province.
