Evaluation of agricultural land use in Que Son district, Quang Nam provice
from 2009 to 2012

SUMMARY

This research is carried out in Que Son district with three following purposes; (1) to understand land resources, (2) to evaluate change of agricultural land area from 2009 to 2012, and (3) to evaluate economic effectiveness of main crops in Que Son district. The results show that the land resources in Que Son district is abundant. The area of agricultural land had been increasing from 2009 to 2012 with 762,35 ha due to increasing forestry land area. This means that forest protection and land forest policy are attended by local authorities. According to the household survey, economic effectiveness of rice and cassava cultivation was low (7.6 milion Vietnamese dong/ha/crop for rice and 1 milion Vietnamese dong/ha/crop cassava). Meanwhile, farmers get gotten a high income from acacia cultivation (76.7 milion Vietnamese dong/ha/year). Based on research results, some suggestions are recommended to improve the effectiveness of agricultural land management and land use in Que Son district in the future.
