Summary
The effect of potassium fertilization on yield and quality of some crops grown on grey degraded soil of eastern region of the south
Result showed that the clay component of grey degraded soils is mainly kaolinite resulting in a low content of slowly available K. These properties affect the effectiveness of potash to crop performance, in term of rate, application and application time. Potash has high efficacy on grey degraded soils. Potassium improves crop yield by 20-30%. Potassium can help in reducing the damage due to pest and diseases and improve product quality. Recommendations are given for a certain crop at different growing seasons. In each trial, economic efficacy of potash added is computed through the V:C ratio.
