Effect of different rate of phosphorus and lime on groundnut yield and soil chemical characteristics in poor alluvial soil
Growth of groundnut was not affected by different doze of P. However, different doze of P in combination with the lime considerably affected on groundnut yield. At the same doze of lime of 400kg/ha, in the treatment with 90kg P2O5/ha the yield was highest. At the same doze of P of 60kg P2O5/ha, the crop yield increased considerably when the doze of lime was increased up to 500kg/ha. Groundnut yield was not increased when the doze of P increased up to 90-120 kgP2O5/ha based on 500kg of lime application. Some of soil chemical properties such as humus much improved by P and lime application. Content of total N, P, K available P and K, exchangeable Ca and Mg in the soil was increased but not so much.
