Summary
The reasonable use Robusta coffee-planted land in Central Highland of Vietnam
Study was conducted in coffee monoculture system and coffee-black pepper intercropping system with the aim at analyzing their suitable land use and farm productivity. The semi-structured and structured methods were used to interview 96 coffee farmers. Farm observation, monitor, management and analysis were done with survey time and continued for the next 2 years. Intercropped black pepper in coffee farm by using Leucaena trees as the living poles to support pepper was of a potential cropping system for sustainable coffee production in Vietnam. This system contributed not only to reasonability use the soil productivity, but also to improve soil properties through the amount of Leucaena trees-pruned biomass returned to the soil. Diversification and stability of outputs from the system played very important roles in increasing self-sufficiency and reducing the risk to income from adverse climatic, biological or market impacts on a particular crop.
