Summary
Nitrogen mineralization capacity of some rice soils in the Me Kong delta
Soil samples were dried and ground through 2mm sieve and incubated under anaerobic and aerobic condition for 84 days and 3 days, respectively. Under anaerobic incubations, N mineralization of soils follows equation N=N1(1-e-k1t) +k2t, where N is the mineralized N at time of incubation t and N1, k1 and k2 are parameters charged with soils, after 84 days, total amount of incubations, the pattern of N mineralization changes with vary from 70-1221 mg N/kg soil. Under aerobic incubation, total amount of mineralized N varied from 33-99 mg N/ kg soil. There is closely relationship in mineralized N between anaerobic and aerobic incubations with correlation constant r = 0.94 **. Similarly, relationship between anaerobic and aerobic incubations in N mineralization rate is also very high with correlation constant r = 0.92**.
