Soils – fertilizers – crops
Summary
Great achievement has been obtained in Vietnamese agriculture. In 1990, food production reached 21 million tons. Many case studies on soils, fertilizers and major crop have been carried out, which contributed to farming intensification and increasing crop yield. It has been shown that nitrogen is the predominant factor determining crop yield, limiting motor of plant growth. Application of chemical fertilizers in combination with organic manure gives highest effect on stable crop yield and reservation of soil fertility.
