Land evaluation and farming system analysis (LEFSA) for land use planning at Song Phu commune, Tam Binh district, Vinh Long province

The study on the combination between land evaluation and farming system analysis in linkage with multi-purposes evaluation technique in order to built up the integrated procedure so-called Land evaluation and farming system analysis (LEFSA) as basis for land use planning” was done. 6 promising land use types were selected for physical land suitability evaluation and identifying 3 land suitability zones. Results of farming system analysis, multi-purposes evaluation from different levels (farmers, local authority, provincial government) have provided the basic data to propose 10 sub-land suitability zones. Based on multi-purposes evaluation, LUT2 (double rice and fish) and LUT5 (u) were proposed as the high priority to meet the physical, socio-economic and environmental requirements. 3 farming systems models for farmers were recommended.
