Effect on use and management of soil fertility for cassava cultivation at farm level
New technologies were applied at the field of farmers. Main activities are concentrated by applying hedgerow farming, intercropping, reply cropping, appropriate fertilization, new varieties… to maximize soil cover on soil erosion control to minimize soil loss, higher crop yield. Some results: hedgerow farming using tephrosia candida and vetiver grass is one of effective measures for cassava cultivation on slopping land, decreased erosion by 25-50%. Casava intercropping with peanut or rely cropping with taro in combination with hedgerow establishment, appropriate fertilization can minimize erosion by 50-90%, increased cassava yields by 20%. Improvement of soil fertility for sustainable cassava farming on slopping lands by biomass returning into the soil and applying fertilizers.
