Summary

Water management in Vietnam’s northern mountainous region. A case study of Tat hamlet, Da Bac district, Hoa Binh province

Due to increased paddy area, production habit has been changed and new paddy rice varieties have gradually replaced local varieties. The food average per person quickly increases from 14kg/person to 242kg paddy/person. Because of poor water use and management, investment efficiency of Tio pipes quals the irrigation fees at lowland (from 5 to 12 kg of rice/sao/season).
