Good permanent cropping activities on sloping land had more value in soil fertility amelioration than no cultivation at all. Excess of positive mineral ion charge is equilibrated by negative charge of soluble organic acids. In returned green material treatments, negative organic charge density was less than that in control. After 7 years of soil amelioration by returning green materials to soil and continuing a leguminous based cropping system, cation selectivity of soil was changed toward a less selectivity to Mg and especially to K. it is a real need to fertilize mg and K rich materials in combining with biological measure to increase significantly sloping soil fertility.
