Summary
Some chemical properties of soils cultivated traditional rice varieties in Vietnam
Analysis of 530 samples of the soils cultivated traditional rice varieties in 70 districts of 19 provinces. Most part of the areas of the soils characterized by high concentration of toxic Al3+, SO4 2-, Cl–. Arenosols, salic fluvisols, dystric fluvisols and acrisols are suitable for growing of traditional rice varieties. Dystric fluvisols are suitable for growing of traditional and new rice varieties. Main limiting factors of studied soils: 89.2% of thionic fluvisols characterized by moderate and high acidity, high level of toxic Al3+, SO4 2- and poor in phosphorus availability. Salic fluvisols and thionic fluvisols are affected by toxic elements such as Al3+, SO4 2-, Cl–. Most part of them have low level of CEC, low content of total phosphorus, total potassium and available potassium.
