Summary
The effects of coffee pulp/husk application to robusta coffee grown in rhodic ferralsols in Central Highlands of Vietnam
Analysing coffee pulp/husk: there were 1.85kg N, 0.19kg P2O5, 3.56kg K2O and 0.37kg S contained in 100kg of coffee pulp/husk. Applying this matter to coffee farm not only improved soil fertility and soil structure but also released a considerable amount of nutrients to provide for the crop. This matter can be used as a material to cover soil surface of coffee farm during dry season in order to reduce water loss through evaporation. Application of 6000kg of coffee pulp/husk per hectare per year can reduce the amount of chemical fertilizers used by 28 N, 8 P2O5 and 42 K2O compared to those of the coffee pulp/husk unapplied coffee farm. Coffee yield of the pulp/husk-applied coffee farm is the same as yield of the coffee farm with 1200kg FYM mixed with 1600kg pulp/husk applied to 1 ha/year.
