SUMMARY
The objective of this study is to compare soil physicochemical properties and maize yield between deposited soil and undeposited alluvial soils in An Phu, An Giang. Ten initial soil samples of each area were collected for analysis soil properties. The maize productivity was also determined with the corresponding sites of soil samples. Results showed that the content of organic matter, magnesium and available iron of deposited alluvial soils were higher than that of undeposited alluvial soils at layer 0 – 20cm. Other parameters have not been reduced from interrupting of flood by diking. Content of nutrients was ranked from low to medium level, but it gained the high yield because of its soil texture (silty clay loam). The maize yield of undeposited alluvial soils has not been decreased for 3 years without flooding in Phu Huu – An Phu, An Giang. There is a need to discover the factors caused the gap yield so that we can find the proper methods for gaining the maximum of potential yield.
Keywords: Soil properties, maize yield, deposited and undeposited alluvial soils.
