Water quality in canals of a newly reclaimated strongly acid sulphate soils area of the plain of reed – Dong Thap Muoi
Result showed that water of the canals in study area was determined by: flushing with “fresh” water from primary canals influenced by tidal action, run-off from dikes containing acid substances, drainage of acid water from cultivated rice fields and fallow land. Water quality limits the possibilities to use canal water for irrigation, drinking supply and aquaculture.
