Summary

Effect of copper, lead, zinc, cadmium on rice seedings in Red river alluvial soil

Root growth inhibition measure method of TCVN 5962-1995 was used for studying effect of copper, lead, zinc, cadmium on rice seedings at concentrations: Cu2+: 50, 70, 100, 500ppm; Pb2+: 50, 100, 500, 1000, 1500ppm, Zn2+: 200, 500, 1000, 1500ppm, Cd2+: 1, 5, 50, 100, 200ppm. Experiments have been conducted over 16 days with 3 replications. Results: – at Cu concentration of 75ppm, rice seedlings were slightly affected: young leaves were chlorotic, growth was stunted. – at Zn concentration of 200ppm, young leaves were chlorotic, have had grey spots, leaf tips become dried. at concentration of 1000ppm after 16 days rice seedlings stopped growth. – at Pb concentration of 100ppm, leaf tips had yellow spots and at 1500ppm leaves became chlorotic and dried, rice seedlings stopped growth. – at Cd concentration of 10ppm, root system started undergo negative effect and at 100ppm rice seedlings were died. Analysis of total and available contents of experiment soil samples were also conducted to find out correlation between their contents in the soil and their effect to rice seedlings.
